Official platform stores are the lowest-risk choice. A purchase made directly on Steam or Epic is usually attached to your account and may not reveal a separate key.

Compare the final checkout price: use the current price in your country, including tax and fees. Check the platform, edition and refund terms before comparing offers; a cheaper upgrade is not the same purchase as the full game.
How to Activate a Steam Key
Use these steps only when a retailer actually supplies a Steam-format product key.

Choose Activate
Select “Activate a Product on Steam” and continue through the product activation notice.

Enter the Key
Paste the key exactly as supplied. Steam will show the product attached to the key before installation.
If you bought Halloween: The Game directly through the Steam Store, check your Library first—you normally do not need to find or enter a separate CD key.

Region and Retailer Checks
Before buying a third-party key, ask the seller to confirm activation in your country, not just the currency shown on the page. Read restrictions on activation and play, the delivery deadline, and the policy for a used or invalid key. Keep a copy of the listing and order receipt. Marketplace seller ratings do not establish publisher authorization.
Valve explains that restrictions on retail keys can vary by product. If a key cannot be activated in your region, contact the retailer; Steam Support cannot remove that restriction. See Steam’s region restriction guidance.
When Will the Key Arrive?
The retailer’s stated delivery terms control: check whether the order promises immediate delivery or requires processing. Check your order page as well as email and spam folders. If payment succeeded but the promised delivery deadline has passed, contact the seller with your order number. Buying again before resolving the first order can leave you with two purchases.
A direct Steam Store purchase is different: check the Library of the account used to buy it rather than waiting for a separate retail key email.

Save the exact error and order receipt so the right support team can investigate.

Check Before You Buy
A low price is useful only if the key works for your account and includes the edition you expect.
- Platform: Steam, Epic, PlayStation, and Xbox licenses are not interchangeable.
- Region: avoid keys marked for a different country or “VPN activation.”
- Edition: Standard, Digital Deluxe, and the Deluxe Upgrade are different products.
- Delivery: distinguish an instant key from an account, gift, pre-order, or delayed delivery.
- Seller protection: read the refund rules before revealing or activating a marketplace key.
